Abstract
The public service exists for the smooth running of the state and its affairs through the execution, implementation and translating of government proposals, policies, and programmes into actions. This functions cannot be properly done when there are no labour policies and well-trained workers in the public services to give effect to those complex task and processes. As such, there is a need for an increase in workers performance and effective labour policies in the public service in order to optimally utilize their potentials to achieve set organizational goals and objectives. Labour policies and workers performance is an efficient tool for adding and increasing the skills, abilities, knowledge, and attitude of workers. In fact, it is an indispensable tool for increasing productivity and efficiency in public service. Hence, the government in Nigeria have pronounced on several occasions that labour policy and workers performance is a key to national development....
