Abstract
This study, Effectiveness of the Mass Media in Creating Awareness of Child Sexual Abuse among Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria (A Study of College of Education, Agbor) was carried out in order to access the effectiveness of the media on awareness of child abuse. The study constituted 400 respondents who reside in Agbor.  The study was constituted of 5 chapters. The study made use of the survey research design. The main instrument for data collection was the questionnaire. Based on the research, the study found out that The level of awareness created about child abuse on mass media has unequivocally, spurred most people to abstain from child abuse as well as rise up to protect the rights of the child, All forms of child abuse related are being reported on mass media, especially child sexual abuse, child trafficking, child labor, child maltreatment, etc. by the adults who are meant to guide and protect them. The study further recommended that - In other to improve people’s level of awareness and knowledge on child abuse related issues mass media should design specific programmes to child abuse and child rights, - To ensure the effectiveness of mass media in the campaign against child abuse adequate attention should be given in the reportage of sensitive issues like child abuse....
