Abstract
The study covered the assessment of the survivor of Nigerian newspapers in the era of new media studying the Pointer newspaper at Asaba. The study made use of the survey research design and 400 respondents formulated the research population which was derived with statistically calculated to formulate the population of the study. The primary instrument of data collection was the questionnaire and the data collected were carefully analysed and presented in tables using simple percentage. The findings of this study show that the adoption of the new media by the older media may lead to the growth of the old Media rather than that. The emergence of new media can aid newspaper survival but not threaten it to the point of its death. It also revealed that the biggest challenge of journalists is the competition between media mainstream and new media in the case of online media. The study further recommended that the conventional media must be able to maintain credibility and trust in the information that its presents, the media industry especially the print media must make changes in its stories and its presentation and the print Media should try integrating newspaper content into electronic tablets.  ...
