The objectives of this study are, to find out the relationship between computer usage and academic achievements of some selected secondary schools within Aleiro metropolis, to examine the effectiveness of Computer usage in the teaching and learning process in some selected secondary schools in Aliero Local Government Area of Kebbi State, and to identify the disadvantages of computer usage in some selected secondary school in Aliero Local Government. The instrument used in this research work was questionnaires because of its suitability in obtaining the required information for the research. The total sample size of this study is eight hundred and fifty (850) students. A total of one hundred (100) respondents students were selected across the five secondary schools using purposive sampling technique. The following were discussed based on the contribution of researchers, concept of computer, concept of computer usage, the concept of academic achievement, computer integration in the learning environment and the rationale for computers in schools. This research instrument has an option of‘YES or NO’. The researcher used the data collected from the responses of respondents and analyzed it in tabular form, using statistical presentation and interpretation of data, tables, percentages and frequency were used in answering research questions. The researcher concludes that there is a significant relationship between computer usage and academic achievements, the effectiveness of computer usage in teaching and learning is low and using computers has more advantages than disadvantages in schools.
