Abstract
This study examines the contemporary relations between the Tangale Kingdom and the Gombe Emirate in North-Eastern Nigeria from 1960 to 2021. The research aims to analyze the historical and contemporary factors that have shaped their relationship, assess its impact on socio-political and economic development, and propose policy recommendations for promoting peaceful coexistence and collaboration. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating qualitative data from oral interviews and secondary sources with quantitative data from government reports and policy documents. Findings reveal a complex and evolving relationship characterized by both cooperation and competition. While efforts exist to promote collaboration, underlying tensions persist due to political power dynamics, economic interests, cultural differences, and religious beliefs. The study concludes that the contemporary relationship between the Tangale Kingdom and the Gombe Emirate significantly impacts the region''s socio-political and economic development. Strong collaboration can foster stability, prosperity, and cultural exchange, while conflict can hinder these advancements. Based on these findings, the study recommends promoting dialogue, conflict resolution mechanisms, economic collaboration, cultural exchange, and inclusive policies to strengthen local governance and ensure sustainable development within the region. ...
