Abstract
Interpersonal skills are essential but complex to assess among nurses. This study examined such capacities across 440 nurses from two Nigerian hospitals using validated questionnaires (p0.001) on communication, conflict, and teamwork abilities, with descriptive data showing the level of relational competence. Variance emerged, with 57% rating unit relationships as strong while 32% found senior interactions discouraging. Likewise, 79% felt peer support aided their duties, though 54% noted insufficient conflict resolution training. A Pearson correlation revealed connections between higher nursing qualifications and superior peer teamwork ratings (r0.621, p0.01). Still, observing relational aptitudes proved challenging overall. While impossible to objectively quantify something as fluid as human bonds, nurturing workplace cultures that value compassion and collaboration promises better care quality from fulfilled employees. This research provides an empirical snapshot of current interpersonal capacity among nursing professionals, with communication, conflict, and teamwork ratings varying widely (45-88% satisfaction). Senior relationships scored lowest (53% dissatisfied), demanding attention. Though complex healthcare ecosystems complicate interactivity, evidence-based insights into relationship dynamics can inform systemic improvements. Ongoing training and assessment should concentrate on building communication openness, constructive conflict habits, and peer support to influence care provider conduct positively (62-79% desired more skill building). In summary, sound interpersonal relationships are indispensable for ethical, effective medical practice but require calibrated cultivation through thoughtful policies and empowerment programs seeking to enhance nurse retention, well-being and patient outcomes. The intricacy of human connections demands nuanced qualitative illumination to complement quantitative data a mixed-methods approach could strengthen future workplace cultural analyses....
