Abstract
Hospital statistics are important tools for measuring health system performance and improving healthcare delivery. However, there are still challenges with gathering accurate and complete hospital statistics. This study aimed to evaluate the utilization of hospital statistics and its impact at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi.  A descriptive survey design was used for the study and the study population comprised 74 staff in the Health Records Department at NAUTH Nnewi. Using the Yamane formula, a sample size of 57 respondents was determined. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, and chi-square test. 100% of respondents agreed hospital statistics improve healthcare delivery and increase efficiency in care planning. 98.95% agreed it helps distribute resources effectively. 85.96% agreed it can predict future ailments. 84.21% agreed it provides accurate patient information. 89% confirmed that NAUTH uses statistics for budgeting. 100% agreed untrained staff provide inadequate data. 89% rated NAUTH’s hospital statistics utilization as a high standard.
