Abstract
Background: The closure of educational institutions in Nigeria has become quite prevalent but the most significant with global effect was the covid-19 lockdown and necessitated an alternative effect for lecture delivery to ensure continuation of academic activities. Study Aims and Objectives: In this study we evaluated the perception of Medical Students in a Nigerian University towards online learning and the factors which influence the use of Online Learning platforms Methodology: This was a descriptive cross sectional study of 235 students in their 400l– 600l classes selected using Stratified random sampling technique. Data was collected via a self administered questions and were analyzed using SPSS V.22 Results: There were a total of 235 respondents. The mean age of the respondents were 24 years with 56% of the respondents being males, while 44% were females. The respondents were predominantly Christians (97.87%), 97.03% were single and 82% had SSCE as their highest educational qualification. About 72% live outside the school campus with about 86.4$% showing an above average perception towards Online Learning. There were statistically significant associations between the level of study and perception but not with place of residence Conclusion: Online Lectures if carefully planned can be an excellent alternative to the routine class lectures  especially in periods of unavoidable school closure ...
