Abstract
The study examines the effect of motivation on the performance of office technology and management in selected organizations in Kogi Metropolis. The theoretical basis for the study was obtained through a review of related literature. The population of the study is 121, the instrument used for the collection of data was questionnaire, 121 copies of questionnaires were administered to the respondents and 80 copies were returned for the analysis, four (4) research questions were formulated to generate answers. Based on the data analyzed the various types of motivation available to the office professional in the organization includes instrumental motivation, external self-concept-based motivation, internal self-concept-based motivation and goal internalization, designing a professional’s motivation program requires some creativity and an understanding of the people who work for you. Each professional will find different types of rewards worthwhile so the challenge lies in coming up with flexible and cost-effective methods of keeping everyone engaged in their work. The optimal program will become a workplace culture, not just a list of rewards for expected behaviours, recognition and reward go hand in hand and are some of the best ways to motivate employees and to fully understand the importance of motivation, we have come up with four reasons why it should be a priority in the workplace. Finally, the study thus recommends that the management should ensure that the needs of individual workers are identified and satisfied, a conducive and convenient environment should be provided by the organizations for workers to perform their effectively and efficiently....
