To achieve this objective, three research questions were stated to guide this study. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics and tables to analyze research questions. A structured questionnaire was used as the major instrument for data collection from the respondents in selected building sites in Gombe town. 60 questionnaires were distributed to professionals within the Gombe metropolis. 57 questionnaires were returned covering 95% and 3 were not returned covering 5%. After the careful analysis of the data, the following findings were revealed, material handling, availability of material, and type of project. Issuing of materials for use, are major cause of material wastage. The studies further reveal the factors causing material wastage which include, lack of proper work planning and scheduling, lack of security personnel and late delivery of ordered materials.
