Abstract
The research examined the role of modern technology in achieving communication efficiency among Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, especially in this era of new media and media convergence that facilitate communication among youth who are the vanguard of modern technology otherwise called“internet native”. The research was anchored on the Technology Determinism Theory and Diffusion of Innovation theory. Multistage sampling technique was used to select respondents from Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, The research used survey research method coupled with 120 copies of questionnaires that were administered to respondents in Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba from the which 105 copies were correctly filled and analyzed using frequency and percentage table method with SPSS version 20. Findings show that modern technology particularly internet-enabling applications and platforms like social media are used to a very high extent and at least respondents spend 1-10 hours while social media was the busiest activity among students of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba while searching on search engines is another most use modern tool. It could be noted that modern technology has significantly contributed to effective communication among students of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba.  It is recommended that is need for modern technology users particularly social media and search engines to ensure they understand why they are using the devices and platforms so that they would not be overcome by any negative impacts but rather use these them for maximum benefit....
