Below are the various ways in which research has been conceptualized. Research methodology has always been exhaustive investigation or experimentation that has as its aim, the discovery of new facts and their correct interpretation, the revision of accepted conclusions, theories and laws in the light of newly discovered facts. This, therefore, means that, the investigation must be thorough and the result correctly interpreted. Another definition views research methodology as the slow and rigorous process of laying both the fact and truth of nature and in which truths have definite bearing on fundamental social problems. From this angle, it is agreed that research is not a rushed affair. It is time consuming and painstaking affair, aimed at solving social problems. Research methodology also involves the manipulation of variables or concepts for the purpose of generalizing, extending, correcting or verifying knowledge whether that knowledge aids in the construction of a theory or the practice of an art.
