Abstract
Nurses’ roles expose them to a lot of stress based upon physical labour, lengthy work hours, poor staffing, and interpersonal relationships that are central to the work they do. Nurses are expected to deliver humane, empathetic, culturally-sensitive and proficient care. The research was carried out using descriptive cross sectional survey approach to assess the knowledge and practice of work management among nurses in paediatric wards in UITH, Ilorin, Kwara State. The objective of the study was to identify to examine if years of experience influences the knowledge of nurses on work management, to identify if level of education will influence the practice of work management among nurses, to examine if she will influence the practice of work management among nurses Data was collected by self-constructed questionnaire,  The information from the research was gathered and analyzed using frequency tables and charts. Hypotheses were tested using chi-square at 0.05 level of significance. The analysis revealed that all the nurses 74(100%) were knowledgeable about work management. The analysis also revealed that 65.9% of the respondents involve in good practice of work management while 34.1% of the respondents involve in poor practice of work management. There was no significant relationship between the level of education and the practice of work management among nurses but there was a significant relationship between age and practice of work management.
