Abstract
The title of this projection is knowledge and attitude of healthcare workers towards injection safety practice at University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital Ilorin, this study was carried out to determine the knowledge and attitude of injection safety practice among healthcare workers in university of Ilorin teaching hospital. The researcher begin this study with the background of the study, statement of the problem, which discusses healthcare workers at U.I.T.H not practicing injection safety protocols, three research questions were formulated. There was an in-depth description of the literature review and the theoretical review. Descriptive research design was adopted for this research and the research setting was in UITH Ilorin Kwara state, healthcare workers ( nurses and attendants were the target population with a sample size of 101 which was calculated using Taro Yamane formular. The instrument for data collection was a well self-structured questionnaire. 109 questionnaires were distributed among health workers at U.I.T.H using stratified sampling technique and  100 of the questionnaires were retrieved out of 109. Ethical approval was collected from the ethical review committee of the school to carry on with the research. Data analysis was done using percentages, frequency tables and bar charts. Three research questions were asked and the outcome were that Nurses and attendants at U.I.T.H have good knowledge and attitude towards injection safety practice which will prevent patients from contracting deadly diseases like HIV, hepatitis and other diseases that can be contracted in the course of injection administration, nevertheless, the danger of having a negative attitude towards injection safety practice should be emphasized constantly at health care centre through training, workshops and strict supervision.
