Abstract
This project work was conducted to assess the knowledge and practice of mothers regarding the nutritional needs of (under five (5) children) at the immunization clinic at the University of Ilorin teaching hospital. It informed the health officers on the understanding of mothers regarding the nutritional needs of their children. Among the objectives is to assess the level of knowledge of mothers on the nutritional needs of (under five (5) children) at the immunization clinic at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Amilegbe wing and to assess the practices of mothers on the nutritional needs of (under five (5) children) at immunization clinic at University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Amilegbe wing. Furthermore, to identify factors influencing the practice of mothers on the nutritional need of (those under five (5) children) at the immunization clinic at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Amilegbe wing. This research uses descriptive survey to sample mothers attending the immunization center of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 74 questionnaires were distributed out of which 56 were retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that mass communication and media, nongovernmental organizations, universities, policymakers and various other institutions should work together in nutritional education as this will be useful to provide effective and persistent nutritional education and active involvement could enhance a better outcome.  Nurses and midwives should also be engaged in improving mothers’ knowledge on this guideline so that there will be a well nutritioned and healthy child....
