Among the specific purpose of the study was to find out the main causes of cracks in public buildings, strategies for controlling cracks in buildings and to identify the roles of supervisor for controlling cracks in buildings. The study adopted descriptive survey research design and area of study was Kano State Polytechnic. The population of the study was on Ten (10) respondents, this represents five (5) Professionals builders/civil engineers and five (5) of building supervisors, while stratified random sampling technique was employed to draw a questionnaire with thirty (30) items designed to elicit to answer the research questions. The instrument was validated by two (2) experts, who embellished it in term of validity and reliability. Reliability coefficient of instruments was established using test-retest reliability, which yields a coefficient of 0.79. Data for the study were personally collected by the researchers and two trained research assistants. While mean statistics was employed to analyze the data relating to the research questions 1-3.
