Abstract
This study presents results of a laboratory investigation on the effect of water-cement ratio on compressive strength of laterite concrete This study aimed is to determine the effect of water-cement ratio in the compressive strength of laterite concrete. Thirty-six (36) cubes of 100 ×100  ×100mm were cast, cured and crushed at  7, 14, 21 and 28days respectively, and also cylinder size of 95 ×200mm were cast, cured and crushed at 3, 7and 28days respectively, The compressive strength at 28days was 24.30N/MM2 for (0.6) water-cement ratio, 18.09/MM2 for (0.65)water-cement ratio, 17.75N/mm2 for (0.7) water-cement ratio. the split tensile strength at 21days were 2.73N/MM2 (0.6)water-cement ratio, 2.73N/MM2 for (0.65) water-cement ratio and 2.37N/MM2 for (0.7) water-cement ratio. It is therefore recommended that (0.5)water-cement ratio used as the control, which has a higher compressive strength is adequate for the concrete mix and alternatively (0.6) water-cement ratio, which was up to that of the control without laterite content. ...
