The dynamics of the transportation network has to do with spatial data infrastructure (SDI) where a database on transportation networks such as the existing spatial distribution of roads and their possible links to the roads of neighboring states has been created and updated using remote sensing and like in advanced countries of the world. Four research questions were also formed for the study. Data collected were analyzed with descriptive and simple percentage. The results of the study reveal the following: to examine the concept of transportation to examine the types of transportation in Port Harcourt to examine the problems facing transportation in Port Harcourt to proffers solutions to the problems facing transportation in Port Harcourt. Conclusively, the findings of the study collectively show road transport service directly contributes immensely to economic growth in the country. There exist a strong positive relationship between the revenue accruing from road transport service and the Gross Domestic Product in Nigeria. As a result of the above findings, the following recommendations are made: that the Government should be passionately committed to improving the operation and management of the road transport system in Nigeria given its numerous impacts on economic development as elucidated by the study The current road transport service planning and evaluation practices in the country reflect traffic-based (vehicle movement) or mobility-based (people and goods movement) transportation system.
