Abstract
The current increase in the prevalence of infections within the hospital and our home environment despite adequate cleaning and disinfection is due to ineffectiveness of the various disinfectant formulations used in infection control and development of resistance to the various chemical disinfectant formulations being used in the hospitals and home by various micro-organisms. This study therefore develops and examined the production of an effective disinfectant product active enough to clear off micro-organism’s activities. In order to achieve an active solution of izal, the study used the following chemical composition per 5 litres solution of the produced izal: 140ml Carbolic acid, 130ml Lyzol, 140ml Phenol, 100ml Pine oil, 200ml booster, 140ml concentrate, 5gm Whitener, 2gm Texapon and 4 liters of water. With the aid of the study result, it was concluded that disinfectants are very essential in protecting individuals from dangerous micro-organisms and at such, it is hereby recommended that it should be made available in homes, hospitals, eateries etc....
