The general background gives detailed information source of aggregates used and it cited examples on research carried out with various types of coarse aggregate which show their differences in concrete made with this three aggregates. Tests were carried out which include, impact test, Absorption test, slump test and comprehensive strength test, it was discovered that his different types of coarse aggregates (pure granite, river round stone, and local stone) have a satisfactory crushing strength. Granite with 28days of arising had a compressive strength of 45N/mm, river round stone was 36N/mm2 and that of local stone 18N/mm2. And this shows that granite has a greater strength than river round stone and local stone, which was mainly attributed to greater void spaces in river round stone and also in local stone. From the result of the project work, I recommend that good quality concrete could be made with all the aggregate used. But pure granite has superior quality than river round stone and local stone when used in heavy structure in high rising buildings. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Civil Engineering project topics and materials you might be interested in»Comparing the compressive strength of concrete made with sand as fine aggregate and with chipping dust as fine aggregate»The comparative study of the compressive strength of concrete made with granite to that made with river round stone (pebble) and local stone»The use of computer in civil engineering»Importance of timber in civil engineering construction»Construction and Installation of a Panel Door»Construction of wardrobe key study on wood work»Effect of street trading on traffic performance and control»Assessment of different types of foundation and their mode of construction»Comparison of soil bearing capacity of different locations in Imo state»Investigation into the suitability of sand and gravel materials commonly used in building construction»Investigating the effect of partial replacement of cement with eggshell powder in concrete production»An investigation in to the causes of cracks in building and possible solutions - a case study of Kukar Gesa community in Katsina metropolis»Determination of the causes, effects of environmental pollution and its possible control within Kwara and Osun state»Suitability of available laterite material in Ilorin East local government area for road construction»Model for prediction of rainfall intensity in Lagos
