Abstract
The study discussed retained earnings and shareholders'' funds of manufacturing firms. The aim is to know how profits or retained earnings are contributed to the shareholders'' fund of the manufacturing firms in Nigeria. This is a descriptive research where the five-year annual report of Nigerian champion breweries 2014-2018 was used. Sample random sampling techniques were adopted and five years financial summary randomly selected from Nigerian Champion breweries was used. The data collected were analyzed using correlation tools and tables. The research hypothesis was tested. Results shows that the shareholders are currently confronted with diverse challenges that may present the effective retained earnings or profit of manufacturing firms in Nigeria. If they are not addressed with promptness coupled with the operation problems of manufacturing firms in the country. The study concluded that cumbersome and anticipated challenges of retained earnings and shareholders’ funds of manufacturing firm, manufacturing firm should convert to retained earnings because it will enhance better accountability easier and wider access to funding, transparency, improved quality of financial reporting etc. then research recommended that the corporate managers should endeavor to make wise and efficient use of earnings to increase investors returns and that firms should retain when there are investment opportunities with a positive NPV. ...
