A random sample of 200 students and 20 staff were included in this study from which a structured questionnaire was used to elicit the data needed for this study which were further analyzed using percentages and the chi-square test of independence. The result revealed that students were initially prepared for the examination before the declaration of school closure which lasted for about six (6) months and thereafter, upon school reopening, students rated their performance to be very low. The study results indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown posed a negative impact on student's academic achievement. It was also concluded that a long period of school closure can effectively lead to students' loss of interest in education.
