The study used the GDP of the nation as a measure of its economic growth, while the monetary value of import and export as a measure of trade openness collaborating with dollar increment rate, using the regression model, it was found that there is an effect of trade openness on economic growth, and with a measure of significance, the analysis revealed that dollar increment has a negative effect on the economy. From the regression analysis, it was shown that there is a significant positive relationship between GDP and exchange rate, net import has a negative effect on the growth of the Nigerian economy over the period studied.
