The objectives of the study were to examine the infant mortality rate in central hospital Ughelli from 2011-2020to find out the causes of infant mortality in the central hospital from 2011-2020 to determine if the sex of infant affects infant mortality from 2011-2020 and also to examine the ailment responsible for the most infant mortality rate in Central Hospital Ughelli from 2011-2020. The study is an Expo-facto research, based on retrospective data. Data were collected from the Central Hospital Health Information department, Ughelli, Delta state. Using the birth and death registers. The research sample consists of the total number of infant deaths and total births for the period of 2011-2020. Based on the objectives, four (4) research questions were generated. From the analysis, it was revealed that the infant mortality rate is highest in 2018 in Central Hospital Ughelli with 78.95 deaths per 1000 live births. While the year 2014 has a low infant mortality rate with 42.44 deaths per 1000 live births respectively.
