Abstract
The concept of credit/smart cards is a bit new to the Nigerian economy, unlike the Americans that had the experience since 1951.  The analysis was not an easy task.  However, the topic is a fascinating area of study. The first chapter, which was the introductory part, traces the origin of credit/smart cards in Nigeria and also defined credit/smart cards and went further to state the problems the work has to tackle later on. The objective and scope of the study were analysed prior to the hypothesis statement, significance and limitation were the reviews of literature related to the topic.  The topic has exposed the use of credit cards“old and current practices in Nigeria, the need to replace the indulgent cash attitude of Nigerians with credit/smart cards and proper bank habits.  The chapter has its epilogue with problems and prospects of credit cards and theories on credit cards. The third chapter dealt with research methodology, which referred to the statistical methods used: collecting and analyzing the data collected.  Primary and secondary data were used and the questionnaire (which constituted the primary data) were analysed using the chi-square method. Chapter four of the study carried the presentation and analysis of data and the testing of the hypothesis.
