This study aimed to examine the EFFECTS OF MOTIVATIONAL TECHNIQUES ON TEACHING OF BIOLOGY IN SELECTED SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN GWALE L.G.A OF KANO STATE A total of one hundred (100) questionnaires were administered to the respondents and data collected was analyzed using simple percentage. The findings of the study revealed that most of the respondents (71%) agreed that the factor hindering the effective performance of student learning is lack of motivation. This study also revealed that the majority of the respondents (50%) believed that lack of working materials is another factor that prevents the effective performance of learners. The study revealed that the majority of the respondents (50%) agreed that Communities have a vital role to play in the motivation of the child to learn. It was recommended that Teachers should be properly trained in the skills of motivating students for academic achievement. Necessary biological and psychological needs should be provided for the students.
