These information need to be stored in a secured place for easy access and future reference. It is not an overstatement to say that many organizations, institutions, or government agencies have become critically dependent on the use of database systems for their success, especially in the hospital. Data collected from various sources, for example, telephone fax, verbal messages, emails etc. are used in decision making, planning and control of operations in the management of clients, personnel and resources. The aim of this project is to design an improved hospital information management system using a function-oriented design for New Era Hospital, Azikiwe Road Aba. The poor efficiency of the present manual management system in hospitals today results and the ineffective filling system adopted. In this project, Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) and Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Methodology (OOADM) are adopted for the design and MySQL is the database server where the data is sent to and retrieved from while Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) is the server-side language used, which provides the user interface design and the forms used by the doctors, staff, and nurses during for the inordinate length of time it takes to search for and locate patient folders administration in the office, laboratory, wards, pharmacy, X-ray e.t.c.
