Abstract
This research work was based on the perception of healthcare providers on the effect of health information computerization in primary health care system a case study of Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State. Computerization in health information can be defined as a system of storing patients’ health information into a computer system which helps in the adequate protection of health information. The research work was carried out among the health workers in the area of study and the purpose was to ascertain the perspective of healthcare providers on the effect of health information computerization in the primary health care system, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State. Targeted population was eighty (80) respondents and stratified sampling techniques were used. Instrument for data collection was self-structure questionnaire which was closed-ended questions and was distributed among medical and health record workers in Ilorin West Local Government Area, but seventy-six (76) questionnaires were retrieved out of the administered eighty (80) copies which were administered. The questionnaires consist of two sections, Section A and Section B Section A, which consist of the respondents’ personal data and Section B, is based on the researched questions. Data collected were been analyzed using a frequency distribution table. The outcome of the study shows that the health record workers and medical staff have the same opinion.  Recommendations were made to ensure the training of health record workers on computer-related packages which will enhance storage of information with ease as well as its retrieval and also need to electrify all health care centers in Ilorin West Local Government Area to allow an efficient running of health information computerization operation. ...
