BIM is defined as the process of creating of information database for a project in which lifecycle information is expressed in an interoperable manner to create, engineer, estimate illustrate and construct a construction project. The objective of the study is to determine if BIM increases the speed of project time delivery and whether BIM saves money significantly to add to the existing body of knowledge. The research questions include Does the BIM serve costs Does BIM create challenges to QS profession. The literature review treated the adoption of BIM by QS, the importance of BIM to QS practice and the challenges created by BIM to QS profession. The population of the study was the final year students/ graduates, the sample of the study was 150 respondents, the sampling techniques was stratified random sample Questionnaire was used as an instrument of data collection method of data analysis was table and percentage method from my findings I firmly conclude that BIM adds more value to the services provided by QS as it has the ability to reduce cost provide space assignment and helps in managing construction project time. In view of the findings, it is important to recommend that the curriculum for the tertiary institution should be reviewed and incorporated both the theoretical and practical aspect of teaching also suggest further study holistically evaluation of trait created by BIM to quantity surveying practice in Nigeria. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Quantity Survey project topics and materials you might be interested in»An examination of the role of value engineering analysis in the construction industry»Assessment of factors influencing time performance of building projects in Nigeria construction industry»The impact of interim valuation-certificate in construction project delivery»Involvement of quantity surveyor in railway construction project cost in the Nigerian railway corporation, Niger state»Risk management practice in construction project (a case study of Ebonyi state)»Appraisal of cost management practices in the delivery of capital projects in Nigeria»Assessment of the environmental impact of construction works»An assessment of the participation of female quantity surveyor in professional practice in Bida and Minna areas of Niger state»Productivity improvement of projects in the Nigerian construction industry»The comparative analysis of recreational facilities for housing estates»Estimating and budgeting a medium scale building project»Taking off processes and preparation of an un-priced bill of quantities»The effect of maintenance cost on the rent of commercial buildings - a case study of some selected buildings in Kaduna state»The effects of existing bid selection on public buildings construction projects in Kaduna state»An appraisal of the effects of government legislations and policies on building development in Nigeria
