Abstract
This project is a research aimed at the role of accountants in the privatization and commercialization of public enterprises in the Nigerian economy. The privatization and commercialization of different sectors in Nigeria depict how different sectors are controlled in the country with the help of an accountant. This entails its policies, application, shortcomings and factors militating against its effective and successful execution. The problems of today’s system of privatization and commercialization of parastatals are enormous. The government being a nonprofit oriented organization needs funds to carry out its governmental administrative humanitarian responsibilities and as well as an investment that will create room for employment privatization and commercialization are therefore ways through which the government sells public properties to individuals for proper control and diversification. The study is divided into five chapters, chapter one which deals with problems, definition of terms, chapter two involves literature review and the role of different sectors in the economy. Chapter three includes research design methodology, chapter four comprises of presentation and analysis of data, while chapter five includes summary, conclusion and recommendations. ...
