To achieve this 3 research objectives were formulated. The survey design was adopted and simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprises all the POS business owners and staff in the study area. In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 65 respondents while 50 respondents were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables and percentage. The result of the findings reveals that POS businesses have affected employment in Nigeria, small businesses in Nigeria do make use of POS machines and POS business has decreased unemployment in Nigeria as well. The paper recommends that the Nigerian Government should empower a good number of unemployed citizens of the nation through the establishment of POS businesses. In addition to this, the Government should ensure adequate availability of power and stability of mobile networks in society. This will go a long way in promoting the profitability and effectiveness of POS businesses.
