Abstract
This study was conducted on factors influencing the implementation of evidence-based nursing practice among nurses working in Emergency units of Unilorin Teaching Hospital, Kwara State. The topic was introduced and relevant literatures were reviewed using journals and internet research. A descriptive research design was used and a convenient sampling technique was used to select fifty (50) respondents and a self-developed structured questionnaire which contain 33 items and was divided into 4 sections. Data was collected, collated and analyzed using frequency, percentage tables, bar charts and Chi-square to test research hypothesis. Based on the findings it was discovered that majority of the respondents strongly agree and agree that there is insufficient time to read research and implement new ideas, lack of administrative support or incentives, and there should be evidence based clinical practice, policies and procedures. Hypothesis revealed that there is no significant relationship between the educational qualifications and personal factors influencing the implementation of evidence based nursing practice which was accepted since the p-value in this table (.000)  the significance value (.05). The second hypothesis was tested and p-value (. 000)  significant value (. 05) revealed that there is no significant relationship between years of working experience and there should be evidence based clinical practice, policies and procedures. The hypothesis is accepted. Recommendations were made to the nurses, hospital, and society. The nurses should have a positive attitude towards research and EBP. The hospital management, administrators and leaders should allow clinicians to make changes in practice based on research evidence. To society, should be patient with nurses when implementing evidence based practice because it will improve better patient outcomes.
