Abstract
This research was carried out to access the skills required by senior secondary school students for yam production in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State. The population for this study comprises all the agricultural science students in secondary schools within Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State. A total of 309 of students were selected for the research. Data collected from the research was subjected to analysis using descriptive statistics. The results show that there are 193(62.45%) boys and 116(37.55%) girls in the secondary schools within the study area. The results also revealed that 33.34%, 36.24%% and 30.42% were in SSI, SSII and SSIII respectively and the majority (72.50%) of the students indicated that they farm yam and 27.50% say they do not farm yam and 91.58% attends agricultural science classes while 8.42% say they do not attend agricultural science class.   students were able to identify all the skills required by senior secondary school students in selecting suitable land for yam cultivation, all the skills required by senior secondary school students in selecting quality yam stem for yam cultivation were clearly identified, students were able to identify all the skills required by senior secondary school students in harvesting and processing of yam, students were able to identify all the skills required by senior secondary school students in the marketing of yam products....
