Abstract
This study examined groundnut oil marketing in Rimi local government Area. To describe the socio-economic characteristics of the respondents, to identify the marketing channel of groundnut oil in the study area, to determine the profitability of groundnut oil marketing in the study, to describe the problems affecting groundnut oil marketing in the study area. Random sampling techniques were used to obtain information from the respondents. Five (5) wards were collected due to location and involvement in marketing activities. The wards selected are: Rimi, Tsagero, Abukur, Kadandani and Magama respectively. In each of the five wards selected ten (10) marketers were randomly selected. For the purpose of this study fifty (50) respondents were selected. The Data was collected from primary sources. Primary data was collected using sets of structured and pre-tested questionnaires. Information was collected with the help of trained research assistants. Selected groundnut oil marketers were visited and data collected was used to reinforce the ones from the questionnaire. The data were analyzed using simple descriptive statistics which include frequency and percentage tables to achieve objectives one (1) and two (2), Objective three (3) was achieved by net farm income and marketing analysis, Objective four (4) was achieved by the use of ranking, this was because of multiple responses is allowed. The study reveals that groundnut oil is sold in the shared almost equal percentage of females and male, female dominated markets with 56% and 44% males. The study reveals that majority of marketers fall within the age range of 41-50(44%), and most of the marketers are married with 72% respectively. 20% had secondary education, majority of the marketers had Qur'an education 24% respectively....
