The objectives of this study were to assess the factor contributing to patients waiting time, the effects of patients waiting time on the improvement of the quality of health service delivery and find out the roles of healthcare providers towards reducing patients waiting time in zonal hospital, Idah, Kogi state. The study employed descriptive non-experimental survey design. The study population that was used are the patients that attended zonal hospital Idah, Kogi state in February 2022 which are 510 patients. Yamane taro method was adopted to select 224 patients in zonal hospital Idah, Kogi State. Data was collected with the aid of structured questionnaire. 224 questionnaires were distributed and 217 were retrieved and the analysis was based on the 217 retrieved questionnaires, giving 97% response rate. Findings revealed that inadequate staff is a factor contributing to patients' prolonged waiting time in the hospital, Which implies that the number of staff is not enough to render healthcare to patients within time constraints.
