The study shows the relevancy of health records management in any healthcare institution. Among the objectives developed for the study is to identify the need for accurate health record keeping as a management tool for effective patient care. Furthermore, to identify the level of knowledge of health information managers in General Hospital Ilorin among others. Many related medical and allied records were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research used descriptive survey to sample 119 staff of General Hospital Ilorin. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 119 questionnaires were distributed out of which 98 were retrieved. Data were presented in a simple frequency distribution table and findings were discussed accordingly. In conclusion, recommendations were made that there should be a well standard health records service, that is, the use of health records in electronic form will eventually improve patient care outcomes and government should employ more health professionals for the betterment of the job.
