Abstract
This project work was conducted to evaluate knowledge, attitude and factors influencing the use of Bilateral Tubal Ligation among women as a means of family planning method in the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. It informed the health officers on the factors influencing the use of Bilateral Tubal Ligation as it relates to women in the hospital. Among the objectives is to determine the knowledge of women towards the use of bilateral tubal ligation and examine the attitude of men and women towards the use of bilateral tubal ligation. Furthermore, to determine the communication patterns among couples who take up bilateral tubal ligation. This research uses descriptive survey to sample staff of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 60 questionnaires were distributed out of which 48 were retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that governments need to improve service uptake of bilateral tubal ligation method and to create awareness by using mass media (radio, television newspaper etc) on the benefits of BTL and the location of where the service is.
