The purpose of the study is to assess the coping strategies of visually impaired pupils in school for special needs Apata Yakuba Ilorin Kwara state. The data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires among pupils in the blind unit school for special needs Ilorin. The findings from the research showed that the coping strategy adopted included being motivated by the achievements of other visually impaired students (96.7%), ignoring negative comments from sighted members of the society (96.7%), relying on tape recorded materials for daily transmission (93.3%), using sighted guide to move around (93.3%), relying on local cues to understand the environment, (93.3%), relying on family members for home support (93.3%) and relying on sighted friends (93.3%). Two hypotheses were analyzed, Hypothesis 1 was accepted since the calculated is less 3.42 than tabulated 9.48 which means that there is no significant relationship between stigmatization and coping strategies of pupils with visual impairment. Hypothesis 2 was accepted since calculated 1.071 is less than tabulated 5.99 there is no significant difference between academic performance and the coping strategies of pupils with visual impairments. Data was analysed using frequency tables, percentages, bar chart, pie charts.
