Abstract
This project work was conducted to assess the factors affecting the delivery of quality nursing care among nurses to in-patients at General Hospital, Ilorin. It informed the health officers on the understanding of nurses regarding factors affecting the delivery of quality nursing care in the hospital. Among the objectives is to determine the level of knowledge of nurses on Quality Nursing Care at General Hospital, Ilorin and to identify factors affecting the delivery of Quality Nursing Care service among Nurses in General Hospital, Ilorin. Furthermore, to identify ways of improving Quality Nursing Care service delivery among Nurses in General Hospital, Ilorin. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research uses descriptive survey to sample nurses at General Hospital, Ilorin. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 133 questionnaires were distributed out of which 121 were retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that Government should provide enough and modern equipment for the hospital in order to improve the delivery of quality nursing care, workshops, seminars should be part of the government schedule and there should be strict adherence and practices in other to update nurses with current knowledge, strict supervisor of the health sector including the practice of nurses should be done, Furthermore, more nurses should be employed to reduce the workload and enable effective patient centered care, motivation of nurses by the hospital management and government should be done to encourage nurses, newly graduated nursing students should go for at least one year service so as to be more and well equipped with practical knowledge and thus preventing the delivery of poor nursing care when employed. ...
