Abstract
This research work was conducted to assess post-abortion contraception use and its determinants among women of reproductive age seeking care in healthcare facilities in Ado-Ekiti. It informed the health officers on the understanding of women regards issues of contraception in the hospital. Among the objectives was to assess awareness and knowledge of post-abortion contraception among women of reproductive age seeking care in Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital Ado-Ekiti and to assess the attitude towards post-abortion contraception among women of reproductive age. Furthermore, to identify determinants of post-abortion contraception use among women of reproductive age. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research uses descriptive survey to sample women of reproductive age attending Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital Ado-Ekiti. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 143 questionnaires were distributed out of which 138 were retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that there is a need for increased awareness of post-abortion contraception through community awareness and mass media and also counseling needs to be given to women with abortion before offering contraception. Lastly, women and their partners should be counseled together as regards post-abortion contraception use to improve joint partner collective decision-making. ...
