Abstract
This research investigates the perceived causes and effects of child abuse among adolescents in Ika South government area of Delta state, the objectives of this study are(1) to assess how educational level can be a cause of child abuse (2) To assess how cultural belief can be a cause of child abuse, (3) To assess how economic problems can be a cause of child abuse, (4) To assess how psychological problem, social problem and physical damage can be effect of child abuse.  In order to achieve these objectives, the following research questions were advanced The study uses the descriptive design and the population of the study was the St Anthony secondary school public secondary schools identified in Ika South Local Government Area. However, the research selected 25% out of them for a closer study through the simple random sampling technique. Primary data was collected through the use of questionnaires, presented and analyzed by means of simple percentages. 302 questionnaires were administered after determining the sample size with the use of Taro Yamene formula and 298 questionnaire was returned back because 6 were invalid due to some errors mishandling by the respondents. A chi-square was the benchmark for answering research questions and hypotheses were tested using the one-sample t-test. It was recommended that child abuse and it effects should receive attention in education policy forums....
