Abstract
This research work was carried out on the incidence of acute glomerulonephritis among children between ages 5– 10 years in UITH between 2020 and 2021. A descriptive non-experimental design was used and a checklist was used for data collection. The collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics and also presented in tables, hypotheses were tested using chi-square. The findings revealed that 125 cases of acute glomerulonephritis was recorded within the period under study i.e. year 2020 and 2021. It was also discovered that 0.8% of the children with acute glomerulonephritis died, while 99.2% survived, which implies that acute glomerulonephritis rarely causes mortality or better put, acute glomerulonephritis is not a factor that contributes to death among under five children. Based on the findings from the study, the recommendations made include that awareness of the causes of acute glomerulonephritis should be made to the public so as to reduce its incidence of it, nurses should be exposed to the opportunity to make nephrology their area of specialization in the nursing profession, a medical team should be set up to create awareness for the public on the prevention of acute glomerulonephritis. This should be regular and continuous because it will take time for the public to have a change of mind and that Religious leaders such as pastors, bishops, imams and so on should encourage their congregants on healthy living that can fight against the incidence of acute glomerulonephritis....
