The purpose of the study was to identify the perceived barriers to the effective implementation of COVID-19 safety measures among healthcare workers in University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. The study was a descriptive study using a Purposive Sampling Technique (PST) to select a total number of 167 health workers. The instrument for data collection was the use of questionnaires. All questionnaires were filled and returned within the stipulated time giving a response rate of 100%. The findings revealed that 55.1% of the health workers are not aware that consistent use of COVID-19 safety measures will reduce mortality rate the findings also revealed that 58.6.8% of the health workers strongly agree and agreed that poor safety culture of some healthcare workers hinders the effective implementation of COVID-19 safety measures among health care workers, 58.68% workers agree and strongly agree that lack of strict enforcement of WHO regulations hinder the effective implementation of COVID-19 safety measures among health workers, etc the findings also revealed that 74.8% believe the use of personal protective equipment effective in the implementation of safety measures and 83.2% believe the use of personal protective equipment effective in the implementation of safety measures.
