Abstract
This research work has conducted the importance of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) as a critical tool in measuring quality healthcare delivery in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH). It informed the health officers on the understanding of healthcare workers regarding the role of monitoring and evaluation. Among the objectives was to assess the importance of M&E as a critical tool in measuring quality healthcare delivery in AKTH and to assess the performance of healthcare workers in AKTH. Furthermore, to assess patient satisfaction with services offered in AKTH. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research uses descriptive survey to sample healthcare workers in the study area. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 150 questionnaires were distributed out of which 150 were also retrieved. In conclusion, recommendations were made that government should implement policies that the hospital management should provide additional monitoring and evaluation officers in each unit/department of the hospital this is because there are inadequate monitoring and evaluation officers in the Hospital, the hospital management should also provide teaching materials and other practical equipment for students and other staff of the Hospital who are in Monitoring and Evaluation Unit. And lastly, the few Monitoring and Evaluation officers should put more effort towards the development of the hospital and proper patient care. ...
