Evaluation of constraints facing service delivery of health information practitioners in Federal Medical Centre Owo, Ondo state

Abstract
This study focused on evaluating the constraints facing service delivery of Health Information Practitioners in Federal Medical Centre Owo Ondo State. The study utilized three research objectives as well as three research questions which were established, raised, and formulated. The study adopted descriptive surveying method and a total of sixty-one (61) samples but only fifty-nine (59) were involved. The instruments used were a structural questionnaire and an achievement test administered for the samples respectively. The findings show that 36 respondents representing 61.02% were male, while 38.98% were female respondent respectively. 45.76% were aged 20-30, followed by 22 respondents representing 37.29% were the age of 31-40, while 9 representing 15-25 were the age of 41-50, followed by 2 respondents representing 3.39% of the age of 51-60 and 2 respondent representing 3.39% were the age of 61 and above. 45.76% of the total respondents were singles, while 25 (42.37%) were married while only 7 equivalent to 11.86% of the respondents were widows. HIT/ND respondents as the highest with 44.07% of the respondents, HND with 37.29% of the respondent and BSC with 11.86% of the respondents. The study concluded that the dominance of non-professionals in the practice of Health Information Management is clear evidence that quackery is a major factor impeding effective medical records Quackery has immense hazards to the quality of services to the patient, the hospital and society at large and indeed an insult to the integrity of the Health Information Management profession. The study recommended that there should be a clear policy and standard of medical records practice which must also be widely communicated to and adhered to by professionals nationwide....
