Abstract
Sexually transmitted infections have been a serious health issue in Nigeria and the globe at large especially in the less developed nations where provisions to tackle this problem have been limited due to the country’s being in the developing stage. Sexual transmitted infections can be caused by individuals having unprotected sex, especially in places like institutions where the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases is high due to the huge number of youths coming from different parts of the country. This study examined the determinants of sexually transmitted infections and contraceptives among undergraduate students in Fubk, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. Primary data were adopted for the study research and were conducted to generate data to answer and give evident reasoning to the research questions as well as test the hypothesis associated with the research. Quantitative research approach was used in the study during the collection of data and analysis. A sample of 215 students, was given questionnaires for data collection, after careful examination of the data collected from the 215 respondents (students), the researcher deemed all the data provided by the students to be accurate and valid. The respondents' data were used for the analysis. The result of the study showed that the situation of sexual transmission infection at Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State is high in relation to the socio-demographic factor. Results from Chi-square analysis proved that the students were knowledgeable about the use of modern contraceptives. Programs promoting safe sexual behavior should be encouraged among students....
