Abstract
This study was conducted to carry out an assessment of the impact of motivation on employees’ productivity in the hospitality industry. The specific objectives were to determine the factors that contribute to employees’ motivation in the hospitality industry to establish the relationship between motivation and employees’ productivity in the hospitality industry and to determine how the motivation of employees enhances productivity in the hospitality industry. The research was survey descriptive in nature, the sample size used for the study was 120 respondents whom are employees of Hallyday hotel and Doo Palace hotel, Makurdi, which was determined using random sampling techniques. Data was collected using the primary method of data collection i.e via a structured questionnaire and was analyzed using statistical table and simple percentage frequency. Literature was also reviewed to support the claims made at the beginning of the study. Findings from the study revealed that in assessing the extent of satisfaction with the motivational packages among the staff, it was discovered that the employees were not satisfied with the motivational packages in place. The study recommends among others that more motivational incentives should be planned by management for employees of the hotels so as to help reduce absenteeism and increased labour turnover in the industry since most of the employees were not satisfied with the motivational packages offered to them.    ...
