It informed the Health officers on the understanding of healthcare workers working in PHCs regarding the use of computers for patient management. Among the objectives were to assess the knowledge of community health Practitioners on the use of computers for patients management and to assess the level of practice of community health workers on the use of computers for patients management. Furthermore, to determine the factors hindering the use of computers by community health workers for patients diagnosis. Many medical and allied literatures were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research use descriptive survey to sample healthcare workers in Kwande local government, Benue State using the Fisher’s Formula. Questionnaire was the instrument used to gather and analyze the data, 224 questionnaires were distributed out of which 200 were retrieved. The research reveal that 15% has once had training on computer for patient management, 85% which is more than half of the population have never had training on computer for patient management, study shows that 15% respondents strongly agreed that, lack of electricity is the cause of the non-usage of a computer by a community health practitioner for patient management at PHC Centres. In conclusion, recommendations were made that the best way to improve knowledge and practice of community health practitioners on the use of computers is to intensify the teaching of computer science at our various schools/colleges of health technology and expose workers to such practice where necessary is possible organized workshops and seminal on computer-based training among practitioners.
