In developing countries like Nigeria, many food crops have been specifically grown for the production of bio-ethanol. However, bio-ethanol production from agricultural waste produce is very rare. The objective of this work is to compare the ethanol yield from cocoyam peel using Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The ethanol yield when the hydrolysates were fermented with Saccharomyces cerevisiae was 175cm3 (35%). High yield of ethanol from cocoyam peel shows high starch content, low protein content, and low fiber. The work reveals that cocoyam peel is suitable for bioethanol production and fermentation with Saccharomyces cerevisiae yielded high ethanol. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Chemistry project topics and materials you might be interested in»Minerals and phytochemical analysis of watermelon seeds (Citrullus Lanatus)»Kinectic study and heavy metals removals from used engine oil treated with groundnut shells»Synthesis and exploration of ion nanoparticles using costus after flower extract as a reducing agent»Characteristics of humic substances from strongly acidic soil remediated and restored using humin enhanced biodegradable waste materials»Characteristics of humic substances from strongly acidic soil remediated and restored using CNB-TECH end product»Phytochemical and proximate analysis of Combretum Zenkeri Ubi»Analysis of the quality of groundwater (boreholes)»Determination of total hydrocarbon and total petroleum hydrocarbon in the sediments of Oturuba river»Biosynthesis of bark peel of aerial yam-magnesium oxide nano composites for biosensing application»Spectroscopic and phytochemical evaluation of methanolic extract of mahogany tree gum for possible biosynthetic process»Production of hair growth oil and body lotion from Pumpkin and Pawpaw seed oil»Biodiesel production using soybean oil and characterization»Ethanol production from cocoyam peels»The production of vegetable tanned leather using Parkia Clappertoniana (Pod and Bark) as tanning material»Production of biolubricant from Carica Papaya seed oil
