Knowledge of nurses on causes, prevention management of dry eye syndrome at General Hospital Idah, Kogi state Department: Nursing Science By: iamjahmeyou Project ID: 7239 Rating: (5.0) votes: 1Rate this project12345 Price:₦4000 Get the Complete MaterialAbstractThe study assessed the knowledge of nurses on the causes and management of dry-eye syndrome at General Hospital Idah, Kogi State, with three research objectives: To assess the level of knowledge of nurses on causes of dry-eye syndrome, to assess the knowledge of nurses on the management of dry-eye syndrome in General Hospital Idah, Kogi State and to determine the knowledge of nurses on preventive measures against dry-eye syndrome in General Hospital Idah, Kogi State was developed for the study with research questions and research hypotheses. Meanwhile, literatures from previous studies were consulted using journals and books. A total of 140 questionnaires were distributed among nurses in General Hospital Idah, Kogi State using a complete enumeration sampling technique to collect the data needed for the study. The study revealed that the majority of the participants 85% strongly agreed while 15% of them agreed that prolonged use of digital devices like computers, smartphones, and tablets can reduce the blinking frequency, leading to inadequate tear distribution over the cornea, and this was among the causes of dry eye. Finally, the knowledge on causes of dry eye differs and management of the condition as well as the majority of the participants 77% strongly agreed that avoiding of dry, windy environments and wearing wrap-around glasses or sunglasses outdoors can help reduce tear evaporation. The study revealed further that the majority of the participants[ 85%] strongly agreed that avoidance of exposure to smoke and windy conditions can exacerbate dry eye symptoms. The government should ensure that there is adequate education for the public on the causes and prevention of dry eye syndrome.
